Hello. So I have been doing lots of video interviews on my iPhone, and am coming to appreciate how quickly you can burn through storage?!

Right now all of my MBPs are nearly full with regular stuff, and I only have 200GB left on an extra 1TB external HDD.

And being out of work doesn't help.

I was thinking of getting two drives like this as a "temporary" storage solution until I can get $$$ coming in...

Seagate 2TB BarraCuda 5400 rpm SATA 2.5" Internal HDD

Thoughts?

Do you need to always have it all with you? You could get a cheap used PC ($50) and run freenas on it to have it act as a NAS. Then load it with 4+TB HDD as you need more storage.

Makes for fairly cheap mass storage. Really, if you use USB HDD you can add as many as you want.

Also being a NAS. You could set it up any way you want. Say as an FTP software or a DIY personal cloud server. Then you could also have remote access to your video.

Thanks, but I'm over thousand miles from home, so yes, I need a mobile solution. (It's gotta be a 2.5" drive.)

I won't use the cloud for security reasons, so that isn't an option.

I have these really slim external 2.5" cases that I love, the problem is that apparently in the last 6 months, 2.5" HDD have become extinct?!

If I as back to working, I'd gladly drop $600 on a 4TB SSD, but that's not an option now.

Plus, whichever way I go, I really need at least 2, if not 3 drives. (One for daily video use. 2nd as an on-site back-up. And the 3rd for an off-site back-up. So triple the cost of any solution!)

In that case this is a much better deal. If you are recording a lot of video 2TB will fill up fast. 4TB will last longer.

Otherwise they have 2TB for less as well.

First one says "for Windows".

How can they sell a 4TB drive fro under $90?!
