Ok, trying to do my service to the readers at MR, I went ahead and threw away the 4.99 for Tennis Slam so I could inform others about the game. Now I mentioned “throw away” the 4.99, because that’s basically what you’ll do if you want this game as you’ll probably never play beyond the first time.

The graphics are cute and crisp. There, now if that is worth 4.99 to ya, then you win. If you need more in a game, then continue reading and we’ll see…

The control is…well….there is no control. You don’t control your bean guys. They just move into position for you to swing at the ball. In fact, it’s kinda hard to even see where the ball is going when it comes to your side of the net because either your bean buddy or your own bean body get in the way and you gotta guess when it’s about time to swing.

How do you swing…well, you tap a little swing icon in the lower right corner. How responsive is it? eh….it seems to swing when you tap the button, but there does seem to be a little element of delay. Minor though. You don’t control your swing and where you want to place the ball…the ball placement, from what I gather, is where in the swing the racquet connects with the ball. Swing early, you shoot it left, swing late, you push it right (vise versa for lefties).

No sound in the game, but that will most likely come in an update…as we often see with all sorts of other apps (ex. Galcon). However, no amount of sound or sensory feedback to the user will make this game worth 4.99. You could just as easily by an app for free or .99 that requires you to tap the screen at particular intervals and get the same amount of “enjoyment” from it.

Final verdict: Pass on grass.
