App Q&A testing by request.
I have several perl scripts I run in terminal. I have at the end of them
print"\a\a\a";

to give me three beeps when they're done.

I just upgraded (complete fresh intall) from Mavericks to El Capitan and the beeps are slower.
Like instead of BeepBeepBeep they're now Beeep Beeep Beeep

Anyone know why this would be?

The system beep sound file could have been slightly changed between OSs?

I'm sure if you dig around the system files you can find it and swap it out with something different if this really bothers you.

Hmm.. digging thru the system folders of the new and the old image, it looks like that might be the case..
this new System Integrity Protection thing is keeping me from swapping sounds, so I'll have to try swapping sometime when I can reboot.
thanks!
