macOS terminal cannot cd some folder suddenly after installation of Xcode

It's just a very normal folder under /Documents, say there are 2 folders a and b
the thing is I am able to run

cd /Documents/a

but when I run

cd /Documents/b, it shows that no such directory.... Really weird, since a and b are both very normal folders under /Documents. This happens after I installed this developer tools, so I guess there must be some links between the two. Can anyone help me explain this? Thx

And does doing an 'ls -al /Documents/b' shows that it is a folder and not an alias to a folder?

while you're trying things, can you access the folder from Finder? If so, does it really look like the name is b, and not, say "b " or something like that?
