Hello,
Random question: is there a terminal command to shut off xfinity permanently so it will quit trying to auto log me into their wifi all the time?

thanks

Do you mean so your iPhone stops auto connecting to xfinity wifi hotspots? If so, all you need to do on your iPhone is to connect to a xfinity hotspot and go to setting-->wifi click the info button next to the the connected wifi and select forget network.
This will stop your iPhone from automatically connecting to xfinity. If you connect to the hotspot intentionally, repeat these steps again so the iPhone doesn't automatically connect next time.

Oh, if you also mean the auto pop up dialog to join an open network, turn off 'ask to join wifi network' in settings-->wifi, scroll to the bottom to see the option.

If you installed the xfinity profile through the XFINITY WIFI app, you'll want to uninstall it by going to
Settings > General > Profiles > [select xfinity profile] > Delete Profile

To stop your phone from automatically connecting to XFINITY wifi, while connected to it or near an xfinity network go to
Settings > Wi-Fi > [click the (i) next to the XFINITY SSID] > Forget This Network (or don't automatically connect, I can't remember which)

thanks for getting back to me. It is primarily my laptop that trys to connect all the time, but my iphone has started to do it too as of late. Im running macOS sierra 10.12.4. I have tried to do the whole deleting profile/ "forget network" process, but it doesn't seem help for some reason.. I was hoping to be able to make it permanently disappear, but I dunno if that's possible

In System Preferences, go to Network, then click Advanced with Wi-Fi selected, and remove it from favorite networks. This list syncs with iCloud Keychain so your phone should stop connecting.

Selecting "Forget This Network" on iPhone has the same effect.
