Terrible battery life, lasts for about 1:30 hours tops and loud fans.

Recently after upgrading to ML 10.8, I noticed that the battery is significantly decreasing... When I had Lion, it used to have 4 hours of battery life and sometimes 5! I am only using VLC to watch a movie and have Safari running in the background. Other than the battery problem, my laptop fans are so loud and they do not quite down. I really doubt it is any hardware problems because I had it checked a week ago for any problems. This is so weird, any help is appreciated.

2. Why would you have a computer checked for problems if you were not already experiencing problems?

You must be running a corrupted version of mountain lion. I'd advise you to put the mac down and walk away.
