Insanely bad battery life while playing media. This is onboard music and I have the same problem with podcast. I got up at 6 and now its only 11. Literally all I have done is music this morning and my phone is dead. Anyone else have this problem?

Also yesterday my phone randomly died at 10% only to come back on an hour later magically with still 10% life left. It's driving me nuts especially hearing other people say the battery life has been great.

Yes I understand it's a beta. I am on DP 3. I would downgrade but I'm loving watch os 3 and wouldn't want to loose my watch but I may need to because I can't handle my phone during before 12

Well...maybe DP 4 will fix this annoying issue.

Well, yeah, it's re-indexing and photos is trying to find faces again. It's a known issue.

I am aware of both those issues and I suppose that's possible, however it wasn't drainging fast when I was browsing safari for 15 minutes, as soon as I started playing music it plummeted.

Ya know what? Maybe you're right. I'll check music out tonight on my 6S Plus.

Cool. Keep me posted. Also this is music I synced via iTunes so it's not even streaming. Same result in podcast too. (Haven't tried on DP 4 yet)

Maybe try turning off Bluetooth ? Or is that how you are listening to music?

Honestly battery life is why I switched from iPhone to Android. I stream and listen to a lot of music while at work or running. My Android Galaxy S7 does a lot better VS my iPhones ever did.

Now I just use OSX for work.

Try rebooting, closing all running apps, turning off BT and then see how it does.

I don't use Bluetooth for music but it is on for my Apple Watch so I can't turn it off. I've tried killing apps and rebooting. Other then killing the Music app it doesn't seem to make much difference.

( regarding android. Maybe the new ones are better but I had an s3 and s4 and both had worse battery life for me. Usually iPhones have been reliable for me battery wise and I won't complain unless the golden master still has this issue.

Another solution (bootleg) would be to purchase a decent portable power bank and keep it around with a full charge so you can plug your phone into it when the battery gets low.

It's a beta issue. Should go away. Don't need a bulky case. Thanks but I want apple to fix it not a band aid

Like I said it seems to be the music app. Doesn't drain when I'm not listening to music.

I really hope that Apple fixes this issue. This has been happening to me since 9.3.2. Streaming does it in for me though, Don't keep music on my devices anymore. My phone overheated once or twice due to playing music.

Battery life has been improved tremendously in Beta 4, especially it does not drain 2-3% every 5 minutes any more. Its quite stable and even the standby time is good.

We will see what it does today. So far Standby seems okay. I unplugged about an hour ago and im at 99%. So thats not bad. However for some reason my usage matches my standby time and idk why, both 57 minutes. I just closed all my apps so i'll see if that changes now....I haven't tried playing music yet which seems to be the root of my issues.

.

Wow, I didn't realize the S7 was that much better? I was always under the impression that Android was generally much worse than iOS for battery life.

Battery life still terrible specifically with music...overall it's not been great but the music app in particular is bad.

I use Apple Music and iTunes Match. Is anyone else having these problems. It's killing me. So many are saying beta 4 is great but this is the worse iOS I've ever had.

Music is not draining a particularly large amount of battery for me. I'd put tonight's battery stats, buts it's trying to tell me I didn't use it at all tonight according to my battery stats.

Hmm didn't seem to help and deleted my downloaded music (disabled icloud music library) so I'm filing a report. Redownloading all my music now :( Does anyone know where you can see the music being downloaded? In ios 9 there was an indicator saying ...songs being downloaded where you could see the music being downloaded and cancel the downloads if they got stuck.
