My 2020 MBP 13" 2GHz, 16GB w/4 TB3 ports is getting horrendous battery life. Running Photoshop today, I got less than 4 hours. Battery has 42 cycles so is healthy. Nothing connected to it. What can be the cause of this - I'd expect to be able to do a day's work on it!

Check Activity Monitor while you're working to see where the power is going. Photoshop is capable of draining a battery quickly, depending on what you're doing with it, so that may be it.

Screen brightness is a major factor as well.

42 cycles doesn't guarantee battery health. Check under the Apple > About This Mac > System Report > Power.

My M1 MBA goes through its battery just as quick as my GF's older Intel MBA. Once I turn Apple's default screen brightness to a level a human can see and close to her's the magical longer battery life simply disappears. The wonders of Apple marketing.
