Like the title says. Here's some info about my computer.
'08 iMac 10.5.8
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
3gb RAM
ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT

I'm running TF2 at smaller than my native res in windowed mode, all settings on low, and a config that supposedly ups peoples fps by at least 50 (Chris' Config) which I saw no improvement with.
My fps averages at 15... which is horrendous and makes the game unplayable without getting frustrated beyond belief.

I know macs aren't that great for gaming, but that can't be the most performance I can get right?... That just seems... ridiculous to me.

Any ideas fellas?

Seems like you've taken the obvious steps. I'm not sure what else you can do... but are you sure it's not your internet connection? TF2 is not the most graphically intense game.

I don't think it is. I'm not running on the best connection, but it's not dial up either. hah And I've tried to play offline too (don't know if it's 'true' offline or not) and still get the same fps.

I'm also going through a wireless router, a Linksys. Should I be using ethernet?

One thing to try - create a new account on the computer, log out of your current account, then log into that account, try the game. You'll probably have to re-enter your Steam info, but it's worth a try in case some process running on your main account is causing the problem.

10.5.8 has worse GL than 10.6 so that might be some of the problem but testing the theory using a brand new account might help.

I'd like to get 10.6, but I'm a bit low on cash at the moment sadly.

The new account also didn't work.

How is performance on other games? Try Portal (I think it's free right now). Does that run a lot faster or not? Will help work out if this is a TF2 problem or a OS problem.

I've got Portal from the last time they had it up for free. I haven't played it in a while, but I remember it being smooth enough to play/finish (was on low settings too I believe, or normal/medium). Except where there was that dirty water stuff, it got kinda choppy around that stuff. But other than that...

No other ideas?

I know people play on laptops and macbooks with a regular fps of at least 60.
So I have a feeling it's something wrong with my end in some way, but I have no idea what as I'm not very tech savvy. hah
