Hey guys,

I'm a designer and I am right now developing several apps for Iphone 5, 5c and 5s.
I need to buy a device to test the apps, but do not have a budget to buy an actual iphone. Could I use a latest iPod touch instead?

I have a geolocation data in my apps, so the device needs to have gps. I do not need the fingerprint recognition of the 5s.

Would I be able to test my apps on latest ipod touch?

Thanks in advance.

iPod touch has Location Services but no iPod Touch has GPS.
So long as you're satisfied with that, and devices without GPS cannot report speed (it is always zero).

If you test for GPS the result will be false, and if your App requires GPS it won't work on iPod Touch,
or appear in the app store when viewed with any ipod Touch.

If you haven't purchased the iPT yet, you might want to wait. Many expect Apple to announce new devices next month or so.

Most expect a new iPad, iPad Mini.

The iPT might be up for a new processor, based on the price of the iPT and the iPad Mini, it wouldn't be a big surprise for the iPT to get an update. Can't say if GPS would be in the update or not, but the processor could be, esp since the iPads are expected to have the new processor.

Even if the GPS is not included, if the new processor is, you can test the 64 bit version.

Also, once the new iPT comes out, the price usually drop on the old (current) one.
