Since the new 6th Gen iPod has the A8 Processor and 1 GB of ram,

is it safe to say that i can test my app on an iPhone 5/5S and it would work fine with the new iPods?

I went through hell testing and optimizing the code for the 5th Gen's A5 and 512 MB of ram limitations. (i guess a few functions weren't optimized and with each iOS increment it did take up more memory)

I hope its yes, other wise i have to get a 2 New iPods for testing a development with our staff.

Hardware is nearly identical to iPhone 6. If it works with the 6, it'll run on the new iPods. Screen real estate will mimic the 5S, however, so use that to test your layouts. I'm not sure I would bother buying new devices.

thats what i thought,

I just wanted to make sure, these old 5th Gen seriously gave me hell.

A5 Chips with 512 MB of ram? we had to optimize everything on our app, not to mention native apps and functions like keyboard typing was very laggy on them.

^ this scenario is why i wanted to make sure i didn't need to buy an iPod for testing. I'm just afraid...very afraid.... lol.

We rolled out with our order taking app with the iPods (only tested with iPhone 5 (& up) and rolled out with the iPods because of the price difference and most of our customers (almost all) doesnt need cellular capability
