I’ve been testing the HDR capability of the iPad Pro 11”, running the same movie with HDR on and another version without.
For example, I tested Interstellar and Star Trek with HDR from iTunes, against Interstellar HD and Star Tek 2009 from Amazon Prime Movies. I had the same movie running in both apps at the same time, and I switched from one to the other. I was pretty skeptical about the touted HDR performance, but I can testify that the movies from iTunes with HDR looked much, much better. Comparing both versions, the HDR version had amazing, vibrant colors against the dull and pale version without it. As far as resolution, I wasn’t able to observe much of a difference, so I guess that both iTunes and other streaming movies apps such Prime Movies don’t go over 1080p.
