Buying a new iPhone on T-Mobile and I got the unlimited everything plan and so I want to tether. To me safety is most important of not getting caught. Thanks guys!

In 2013 I did a Google search for tethering detection. My highly unscientific research revealed that between MyWi, TetherMe and one other major tethering app at the time TetherMe seemed to turn up less when it came to detection.

Take that as you will, but I bought TetherMe based on that and it's what I use.

I personally use MyWi cuz I spent 20 friggin' dollars on it. But apparently it's very bad at hiding tethering usage.

But I did do research of my own and apparently TetherMe and PdaNet are both good at hiding tether usage, with PdaNet being the best.

I have both terherme n mywi. I normally use terherme just cuz it's native

I've been using TetherMe for a while without issue- this alone makes the JB worth it.

The only way not to get caught is not to tether unofficially.
There is no foolproof way of hiding that from your carrier cause they can look at your data and figure it out if they want.
Besides that I like MyWi better.
