This workaround may or may not be useful to everyone, but if you have a small storage size iPhone like me this is useful. I use an 32gb iPod Touch 2g as a music, podcasts & games device instead of my 16gb iPhone3G. It saves battery on my iPhone and the Touch has a faster processor. I have my MacBook Air with me all the time too. So here's the workaround to the limit AT&T puts on your iTunes downloads via iPhone.
1. Create a "device to device" WiFi Hotspot on the MacBook. I use iPhone3G as my WiFi name and a 128bit PW to secure the connection.
2. Connect your iPod Touch to the iPhone3G WiFi connection you just created via WiFi
3. iPhone can be put to sleep while remain connected to your iPod Touch
4. Now your iPod Touch has 3G connection thanks to your iPhone.
5. Put the iPhone in your pocket and enjoy your own WiFi Hotspot and download as many music or podcast as you like to your iPod Touch.
