I have tried to tether my android phone to my macbook pro with el capitan on and it gets as far as giving me the access number but when it connects it immediatley fails.

It works fine on my ipad.

I need to do this as we have our house for sale and will move into temp accomadation for 3 months so will loose the landline internet. I have a mobile (android) with a data plan on so intend to use that.

I have searched on the net but only found solutions before el capitan

Any ideas please?

Do you actually have tethering enabled on your line?

What phone and what version of Android?

How are you trying to tether? Wirelessly? Why not attach phone via USB and tether that way?
