Hallou,

did anybody there use their ipad as 4/5G modem for your laptop ? I need some 4/5G modem for my macbook ( sometimes playing geforce now) so need lowest lattency and jitter as possible. Mobile 5g routers cist 400- 800 euros now so almost price of ipad. Iam thinking about connecting my ipad with thunderbolt cable to macbook and use it for this purpose. (4G wifi tethering for iphone takes lot of juice and there is little be higher lattency) I cant test it now ( 5G will be availible in my region next year). What are your speed, latency and jitter when tethetring through cable? thank you !

I've used my phone to create a hotspot when I've been in a pinch. Its not something that I'd want to do for a long time, battery life was significantly impacted, and my phone was getting warm. I can't say for an iPad but I suspect results would be similar.

I’ve tethered for extended periods both with a phone and with an ipad. Honestly, aside from battery life the main worry is running out of hotspot data.
