I can not seem to find tether instructions, I used PWNage Tool on my sons 3GS and it has 3.1.2 BB 5.11.07

Need help getting tethering to work :(

I agree, the comm center patch and the stealth.ipc profile will allow you to tether just fine. It's what I use after all.

Yes, and I recommend it over the fixes you'll find in some Cydia repositories. They basically replace your CommCenter with a patched version. Depending on your phone's state when this happens, it can cause complications. Eagos' patch checks to make sure you have the right version of CommCenter, unloads CommCenter, Patches it, then reboots. It's a much cleaner way of doing it.

When I click on the download on Eago's site for the patch, it just brings up a bunch of gibberish in an IE window. It doesn't d/l anything

I say get the sinfuliphonerepo.com source and just download "Tethering for 3G/3GS" (choose the phone you have of course) and you'll get native tethering, a tethering counter, and APN settings. It's probably the simplest in my opinion.

Sounds like a problem with mime types in your browser config. Try right-clicking the link and choosing whatever the IE equivalent of "Save Link As..." is. Also? Get Firefox.

But it replaces CommCenter with a patched version while CommCenter is running. This can cause problems with cell reception which can force a restore.

He was JB with Cydia but didn't listen to me and installed the Apple patch 3.1.3 just like Apple did with mine, now all three phones in the house can not be JB anymore.

It is beginning to look like I might be in search of something else if someone doesn't come up with a NON tethered JB for 3.1.3 or 4 when it comes out :(:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Quick queastion on the eagos patch.
I currently have the sinfull tethering hack. What's the best way to switch to the eagos patch without restoring if possile?
Thanks

You beat me to it. I have no reception issues. I would like to know this as well. I would like to not be connected to sinful at all but his patch works for me. It's the only thing I wanted out of his repo.
TIA

I have to use IE on work computer, but I just waited til I got home and tried it on my macbook and it worked fine, thanks for the help! :)

If you've already got the sinful tethering hack I wouldn't suggest trying to undo it. You can't apply the eagos patch without putting the original version of CommCenter back, and that would be quite as dangerous as it was replacing it in the first place. If it's working for you, stick with it.

If I remove it thru cydia you think it will give me any prolems after that to install eagos hack?
Does commcenter only gets back to original when you do a restore?

Excellent question. Maybe it won't restore the commcenter properly.
