Hi Everyone. I'll be needing internet access in building that has no WiFi or ethernet hookups available. I decided that I would try to tether my iPhone but I'm not having much luck.

I jailbroke it with ZiPhone and installed the BSD Subsystem and OpenSSH. I've also setup SSH to power on at startup.

I've been following these instructions but when I go to make the AdHoc network on my Mac, my iPhone is assigned a non-routable IP address - therefore making it impossible to ping it or SSH onto it.

Since I only need this one time I figured I could setup my old Linksys router to hand out IP addresses that were indeed routable. I did this and was able to successfully ping & SSH onto the iPhone.

I then setup the SOCKS proxy but nothing in Safari will load. When I type a site's address it just hangs. I know this is kind of a complex problem but any help is much appreciated!

Thanks, it looks promising but I can't even download the proxy app. I keep getting an error message when I try to download stuff. I even did a restore & another jailbreak and I still get it.

I got my phone connected to my MB but then it just wouldnt load anything :S
