I'm aware that we can get the iPhone to tether. The rep at ATT said that the company is possibly planning to offer this as a function and charge 30.00/Month for it.
My question is....
If the carrier does implement this as a paid function.....will they be able to remove the unpaid one?

For sure. They will definitely remove the free one. You may even end up screwed if you used it...

I don't see why. Most windows mobile devices have been used to unofficially tether for a while now. From what I hear they have never had a problem.

I'm curious as to how many people are tethering right now, and what if anything, AT&T can charge for it (if they could even ascertain that someone is doing it). If there isn't an explicit prohibition against it, and our data plan is unlimited, I wouldn't think they could charge extra for using it right now.
