so im jailbroken right now on 3.1.2 and i have tethering enabled and just wanted to be sure i dont rack up a huge tethering bill from at&t somehow (i am on a family plan). i am out of town for the weekend so i started to use tethering on my laptop while im on the road. when i check usage under setting i see a new category for tethering data sent and received. can at&t detect this? im not going crazy by any means and i read on another fourm (i like this one better though) that the "The "unofficial" monthly tethering limit is about 4.5GB" just wanted to know what your guys' thoughts were on the subject.

If you are worried about this, then just use PdaNet and AT&T will think it's just Pandora or Mobile Safari traffic.

Is all that is needed is a tethering app? I have MyWi and I can't seem to get a wireless connection to the 3g internet going.

MyWi should be all you need. Works great for me on 3 different iPhones.
