I know in the past there have been different tweaks for enabling tethering, some not requiring a jailbreak, and apps with hidden tethering features. Do any of these work on a 5s?

I assume they would work, but have surely been pulled by Apple ever since. And it's been a while since there was an app that secretly worked as a tethering app. Those apps gain publicity quickly and Apple pulls them quickly too.

If you purchased them, you can still download them even if they were pulled by Apple though right? Or is that not the case?

No.
If you have it saved on your computers iTunes library you can sync it to any of your devices.
They are pulled by apple and removed from their servers. You cannot download them again even if you paid for it when it was available.
In other words you're SOL.
Nothing you can do to get free tethering on a 5S currently.

You can't. You would have to transfer purchases to your conputer's iTunes and save the ipa file

Got it, I'll have to look. I bet I have a couple saved, hopefully they run on iOS 7. Thanks

This is correct. And even then, if the app isn't programmed to support your iOS version, the install will fail every time. I have a couple apps I used to always use but are no longer in the App Store. I have tried installing them with the IPA on iOS 6.x and iOS 7.x. Unfortunately they will not install. I found replacement apps currently available in the App Store so it's no longer an issue. But definitely annoying especially since one of the apps i cannot install is a paid app!

Thanks, would love to know what app or apps you are using.

Battery Doctor Pro (it was a green battery icon...it is no longer available in the App Store. Mainly just used it to track monthly complete charges from below 20%). The other app was AppShopper which got pulled from the App Store. The dev has since figured out a way around apple's rules and released AppShopper Social or whatever it's called. So in the end I installed the new AppShopper and skipped out on any of the battery apps since I just wanted to track the monthly complete charges like I mentioned.

But I cannot install those two apps on iOS 6.x or iOS 7.x. They always fail even though I have several IPA files for each app. Oh well.

Thanks, I meant what apps you said you found that are still currently available.

Oh whoops! Hahaa. I replaced AppShopper with AppShopper Social. I never replaced the battery app.

In the end, it's still great practice to always "transfer purchases" in iTunes to save the IPA's. I do it frequently so I can save each new update as a new IPA. You never know when you might want/have to install a specific version!

There is none currently available to get unauthorized tethering.
When they are available they're pulled within hours.

That's what I thought, but I guess this post made it sound like you knew of something that currently worked:

I do still have Battery Doctor, and HiddenApps. I'll have to see later if either will work on iOS 7. I might have others that allowed tethering but I don't remember which ones worked.

Yes please let me know. Keep in mind, there are a bunch of apps called "battery doctor". The one I was referring to was a green icon I believe. I'll post a pic later if you want. Thanks!

Yeah, that's the Battery Doctor I have, I remember that's the reason I originally downloaded it. I'll let you know after I get a chance to try them.

Well, like you said Battery Doctor won't install. And I though HiddenApps let you tether, but I guess it just allowed you to hide stock apps. I guess Ill have to keep looking for a way.
