I have the first version of the iPhone 3GS. I just hacked it using blacksn0w from geohot. I have followed the steps to enable tethering, but I would like to know if there is a cost associated.

Has anyone done this with their phones on AT&T? Did you see a large bill increase?

Thanks.

What question are you answering? Did you see any bill increase?

Just don't, for the love of God, torrent or stream 24/7 and you "should" be fine. AT&T could change their policy because they already have data usage policies in place and go after people tethering. I'm considering turning my iPhone off on Friday if they decide to see who is going to take part in the choke down plot from fakesteve.com

I use tethering all the time. I'm on EDGE, so it's only about 20kb/s and i usually am online no longer than an hour with it.

I have buddies that video chat over iChat while tethering on 3G. it's amazing

no cost increase for anyone i have ever known that uses it, but don't try taking in 10GB of data a day.

No bill increase and as far as I know noone ever got any overage charges by tethering thru their iphone.
So for the moment you're good and as long as you dont abuse it I dont think you'll have any problems.
