Greetings,

what application for my MBA to read text like notepad ?

The inbuilt Textedit app or a third party tool such as CotEditor!

TextEdit is a macOS application so you will already have it. Yes I bought CotEditor from the App Store but there are a lot text editors so it really depends what you want to do with them as to which one you should get.
