Make sure "repeat alert" is set to never. This happened to me when I upgraded and misunderstood the "Once" option as meaning the alert would only ring once. Once I set it to never my alert only alerts me once.

oh REPEAT alert once.. makes sense.. darn it where is that setting?? FOUND IT
