Hi,
First a caveat: If I'm posting this on the wrong thread (sorry!); Please let me know so I can repost it somewhere else an avoid annoying everyone. Also, I have contacted twitter about this but have so far had no reply, so I thought I would post it here presuming it might be a problem with my mac/piece of malware etc that other mac users might know of.
For a while now, when I am using twitter on safari, if I enlarge a tweet, I get a message on screen (see enclosed screenshot) and what seems to be a text edit document (a zero bytes file with a name of a load of random numbers) is automatically downloaded (I'm not sure what it is as I'm scared to open it). On the 'info' of the last file that was downloaded under 'Where from': it said:

Is this just some form of advertising on twitter that causes a file to be downloaded, or is because I have some malware? I ran the free version of ClamX and Malwarebytes and neither have shown up anything. Sometimes I can open a thread and nothing happens, but commonly every tweet I expand causes a file download. I am happy to attach one of the files which is downloaded, but wasn't sure what the rules re: posting files which are potentially unsafe were) (I'm new here)
Does anyone have an idea what is causing this, and how I can stop it? Thanks
PS - I know of at least one other mac user who is having the same issue.
