Text from Mac not working

Iv just updated my iPhone 6 plus to iOS 8.1. Calling from my mac works but texting does not is there anything i need to do to enable this. I have a retina Macbook pro late 2013. Thanks for your help

settings=>Messages=>Forward text message

should appear on your Mac a code to pair the iPhone...

On my MBA the code does not appear

obviously you have to be on the same network and have the same apple ID on both Mac and iPhone

There is a toggle switch to turn it on in Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding

I had a problem with it too, but in "Settings -> Messages" Theres blue-text link to manual. It's easy with it.

thanks guys it shows three macbook pros in that menu but only one toggle switch works to show the code on my mac. Could these be my old macs or just a glitch

Same here - I had two MacBooks.

I also had 3 listed. I think you may have performed clean installs without logging out of iMessage like me. Changing my Apple ID password got rid of the "ghost devices". Be warned that you won't be able to change back to your original password though.
