I copied and pasted the tabulature from this site into text edit and when I went to print it crashed text edit.app which has never happened before. After a few attempts I gave up and opened up Indesign pasted it in and exported as a pdf. But when I went to print the pdf it crashed Preview.app as well, which has also never happened. Crashed Acrobat pro too. I tried replacing all the "-" with new ones but that didn't help either.

Any suggestions? Apart from doing a screengrab and printing from a jpg.

Likely candidates are a misbehaving printer driver, or a misbehaving font file. Does the problem go away if you select all the text and change it to, say, Monaco instead of Courier? If you paste the text into something that lets you zap the text into outlines, does that print okay?

(I copied and pasted that tablature into TextEdit and it went to the printer just fine.)

It wouldn't print outlines either so I guess you are right there's something wrong somewhere, but I can't understand why it's crashing. Usually it prints everything without any fuss at all, even direct Indesign files. Could be a corrupt cache or something. I'll investigate further...
