Came home today and the text messaging forwarding from my iPhone to my iPad and MacBook pro is broke. It worked last night fine. Anyone else had this happen. I've tried everything I can think of and I can't restore it to working condition.

I tell the iPhone to send the code to the two other devices and the code never appears. I've reboot everything. I've signed in and out of iMessage on all devices. I've reset network connections on the iOS devices. Nothing working.

EDIT: 10.3.1 & 10.12.4 versions

Out of curiosity, which iOS and macOS versions are you running? My iPhone is 10.3.1 but I haven't updated my MBP to 10.12.4 yet.

I had this issue too! For some reason i was having an iCloud issue this evening and was able to get that working again. I seem to have fixed the issue getting them to sync except for any of the messages I sent on my phone between last night and this evening which was very annoying.

I too am having this issue. Sometime between yesterday (4/4/17) to today (4/5/17) it stopped working. Most of my conversations contacts are red labeled now. No amount of restarting, signing in/out of iCloud, turning iMessage on/off or any reasonable combination outside of reinstalling both macOS and iOS has solved anything yet.

Ever since I updated my Macbook, I noticed that somehow Text Message Forwarding was disabled for the device. Didn't happen for my Mac Pro nor Macbook Pro. I turned it back on last night for my Macbook and things were fine.

Ten minutes ago I got an SMS from someone, and it never went to my Macbook Pro. I looked, and suddenly it was disabled for ALL of my devices. I have no idea what happened, and I certainly didn't turn it off.

FWIW, I'm on an iPhone 6S.

Same here! iOS 10.3.1 on iPhone 6+ and iPad Air 2, MacOS 10.12.4 on 2013 MacBook Air. Texts to non iMessage contacts do not work anymore from iPad or MacBook. They receive the messages but fail to send them. Tried lots of restarting and changing settings, etc.

I got it to work again! I tried restarting and logging out and back in to iCloud on my iPad and iPhone. The only way I got it to work was by reselecting an email address in the messages "send & receive" settings on my iPhone. See the red circles in the screenshot. I previously only had the phone number selected on all my devices but now it seems that after the recent updates it will not work without at least 1 email address also selected.

I wonder if this is a bug or something that apple has implemented on purpose. I don't really want to select an email address to receive messages.

I was having this problem as well. I toggled iMessage on my iPhone, then toggled the SMS forwarding for each device. Then it started working again. Maybe just a weird hiccup.
