I’ve had iOS 12 on my iPad, but not on my iPhone, and text messages have been working fine on the iPad. I got a new iPhone, obviously it has iOS 12 now, and messages are not working properly on my iPad. I turned text message forwarding off, restarted, turned it back on and it still doesn’t work. I disabled iCloud messages, restarted, turn that back on and it still doesn’t work. The phone number and email addresses to send and receive from are the same on both devices. Anybody know how to get text messages working on my iPad again?

Known issue. Call apple and file a ticket with them about this. Make sure you have time because there’s a lot of troubleshooting to do

Is it a common issue? If it is I may just wait for an update to fix it, otherwise maybe I’ll call and have them enter a ticket. Thanks

I’d call to make sure they have a record if your issue and it’ll likely get promoted to the top of fixes for engineers

Wasn’t an issue for me on my new XS until yesterday. SMS isn’t going to my iPad OR my Apple Watch (which is insane) and if I send something from either of those it says “unable to send) but it actually does send, as I see on the phone. Seriously haven’t been able to get it working and it’s bugging me. Started yesterday, was working fine before that.

I didn’t notice the Watch issue until today. Really sucks

I did notice that SMS conversations on my phone after this problem started begin with “Number changed to Primary” which makes me think it’s an issue with dual sim on the XS, even though that feature isn’t active yet.

Same issue for me with my XS. The device I'm trying to use is a Mac, but same exact symptoms as your problem.

I saw that as well. I was thinking it was something with the contact, I forgot about the dual sim

I have two phones (work and personal). Previous to 12 text messaging worked fine for each. After I upgraded to iOS 12 on work and got a new XsMax for personal, the Xs refused to forward messages to my iMac, iPad, or work phone. Worked fine the other way. On the Xs I had to log out of iMessage and iCloud, set it all back up to get it working. I am still having issues with photo import from the Xs to my iMac, but forwarding is working.

Yep. Exactly the same problem. SMS’ from iPhone not synced to iPad or Apple Watch.

I was under the impression that text messages can also be sync’d to other iCloud devices via iCloud Syncing too. Seems to work that way to me in iOS11. That doesn’t work in iOS12 either.

Getting the same issue with 10.12.6 and my XS. I've done a fresh reinstall of 10.12.6 and DFU restore of iOS12 and set up as new but still having the issue.

Thought it was only me!

Ugh, same issue here. iPhone XS Max, MBP also on Mojave, text messaging forwarding just doesn't work. Phone doesn't forward to Mac, Mac tries to send but fails with "Not Delivered" (although the message does appear on the iPhone, it just doesn't send.) Oh well. Maybe 12.1 will resolve this.

In addition to the text message forwarding not working with my XS, I've also noticed that the other continuity features such as shared copy/paste aren't working any more either.

So now I have had my second message thread get duplicated. Last time I deleted one and it removed both from all devices. I can’t do that again as I have info saved in these messages that I need.

Any ideas on this? I couldn’t find anything about it.

Issue got fixed for me with 12.1! Text messages send and receive corectly on my 15" MBP on 10.12.6 and XS on 12.1.

Can confirm the same here -- 12.1 resolves this issue for me completely.

Text messages to my iPhone arrive on my Mac, and I can once again send SMS from my Mac via my phone.

Woo!

I think this is resolved for me too. Brand new iPhone and turned on iMessage and let everything download and everything is there.
