I am trying to figure out the following....when i go to settings, messages, text message forwarding it shows literally like 8 devices, some of which are still mine (ipad, mac mini, macbook pro) and some of which have been sold and are no longer mine or signed into my icloud account. any idea why and how to not have them show up?

login to iCloud and go to settings. You can remove devices from there. I think this is where it gets the list from?

In addition to what Armen said you can go to settings-iCloud-click your name at the top-select devices from the list-select the device and remove from account will be at the bottom.
