I'm not sure when this problem started, but ever since getting a new laptop (15 touchbar one), I've noticed that I'm no longer getting SMS text messages forwarded to the Messages app on my laptop.

So today I go on my phone and double check the 'Text Message Forwarding' setting and it's ticked for this laptop. So I untick and and try adding it again. It tells me that it's sent a code to my Mac and to enter the code. The thing is... nothing has shown up on my Mac at all.

I'm on the same iCloud account on both, Messages app works on both (and syncs on both), so all of that is working. I'm on the same wifi network when trying to do this. I've enabled/disabled my account in the messages app, and nothing.

(I don't know if this is related, but I can rarely use AirDrop either, as most of the time my machine doesn't show up in the list)

Ok, tried restarting both devices and checking it on another wireless network. Went into iCloud.com and made sure both devices showed up there, and still nothing...

Have you signed out of icloud on all devices?
Something that might help:
Sign out of all devices.
Sign into icloud on your mac
Then on your phone.
Then on the phone Settings > Messages > check imessage is on > then text message forwarding to verify your mac is showing up and is on

Did anyone found any solution to this? I have tried every worldly thing possible, and still not able to get this to working. It was working perfect few days back, and it just stopped working.

I'm still having the same problem here too...

Kind of just given up at this point, which is lame.

This happened to me too, recently, but I was able to re-enable it from the iPhone.

Since you just bought the Mac, I'd press Tech Support for a solution and rule out some kind of hardware thing that's affecting Handoff.

I brought it in to the Apple Store (for a keyboard repair) and the guy had a quick look. Everything was set up correctly on both the phone and the laptop. He suggested formatting the laptop which is a bit brutal...

Hi all – I was having the same issue between my iPhone 5 SE and my 2018 MBP, 15 with touch bar. In tandem, I had a bunch of duplicate devices whenever I tried to toggle text message forwarding on—my new computer was listed there five times.

I resolved it by changing my iCloud password on my phone, which prompted re-signing into everything, but got rid of the duplicates. I then turned on text message forwarding for my laptop and gave it about 20 minutes. Suddenly, text message forwarding was working again, with no code prompt as I've seen on other troubleshooting pages for this.

Additionally, I've noticed that some troubleshooting guides for this issue say that both devices must be connected to the same WiFi network; this has not been the case for me.
