Anyone else notice that when you are dialing a number to send a text message (as opposed to selecting a contact) that instead of the old phone keypad (that shows the numbers and the corresponding letters for each number - like a touch tone phone keypad) it just uses the standard text keypad?

I've noticed this for a while, but never questioned it.

Is this a bug or something?

No, because in that text field you can also write your contacts names or email addresses (for MMS).

right but you could always do that - type in names etc... they used to provide a telephone style keypad when you pressed the number button. so for instance - if you are trying to text message KGB at KGB KGB, i could use the phone keypad to know what numbers to type. Additionally - the numbers were far easier to press.

you sure this was intenional?

Yes, because you could just type "kgbkgb" and it would send the txt to them

But say you just picked up a friends cell-phone number. You enter the number into the field when composing a new message, send the message, then simply tap "Add to Contacts" then you're done.
