So when I have a podcast or something playing on YouTube on my iPhone during the day while I’m working and someone sends me a text, the notification goes DIRECTLY to my iPhone and not to my Apple Watch as it normally would and I tend to miss text messages this way, I rely on the haptic feedback on my Apple Watch to notify me when I get a text (I use the iPhone on silent mode) and for some reason whenever the iPhone’s screen is lit such as during YouTube playback or when any video is playing then all text messages are routed to the iPhone directly and I don’t want that, I want all text message notifications to go to my Apple Watch at all times, how can I do this? Thank you in advance

From my experience, when my phone is open/unlocked the watch doesn’t provide a notification.

Wow, that’s bad news then. So it’s impossible to get a haptic text notification on the watch whenever the screen of the iPhone is lit/turned on such as during playback of any sort of video etc?

I noticed that if you pull down the notification center while the phone is unlocked then messages WILL go to the watch... obviously then you don't see what's on screen, but still works.
