Alright so I've never had this problem before, I upgraded from an iPhone 4 to the 4S. Since, my ringers are acting wierd. My ringer can be set to the lowest audible notch and now and then when I get a text it sounds like the ringer is set to full blast and scares the **** out of me, likewise with the call ringer but I notice it more when I receive texts. I don't know if there's some type of glitch or if it's iOS 5 or the iPhone 4S, but it never happened on my 4. I'm no stranger to the iPhone I've had one since 2007, I know how it works. Anyone experiencing this, know how to fix it?

I'm having weird problems too. My ringer volume keeps randomly and automatically going up and down, the screen keeps showing the ringer icon and the volume control going up and down. I'm not touching any buttons.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I noticed this after playing certain games that are probably not certified on IOS5 yet. I will play the game, then exit the game and I will go to text someone and the clicking of the keys is so loud, it sounds louder than you can even set the loudest volume to normally. VERY LOUD.

It is like the game that isn't IOS5 certified doesn't know how to reset the system volume to what you have it set at after it is done.

It seems to correct itself after I either send the text, or a different sound plays.

Ringer volume resets itself

I have an iPhone 4 which I just this week upgraded to iOS 5. Since the upgrade, my ringer volume keeps resetting itself to an extremely low volume. I have set it at maximum several times, both with the buttons and with the slider in the Sounds Settings, and I have also tried changing the "Change with Buttons" toggle to "off"...but it still keeps resetting the ringer and alert volume back to a minimal level -- initially it is set right but when I pick up my phone a few minutes later it is always changed to the lower volume setting.

This is happening on my 4S and my colleague's iPhone 4 since he upgraded to iOS 5. Seems like an iOS 5 bug, very annoying!

This is happening to me also. I noticed this with my gymbuddy app. I set a timer within the app in between workout sets and when i'm playing music i would hear the timer go off. Now since the iOS 5 update i can't hear the timmer go off because it's to low. I noticed now i have to put the ringer volume all the way up, but never had to do that before. I think it is reseting itself somehow as well.

I've noticed that the volume of things like email and text sounds while the phone is locked seem quite random. Today, the phone was sat on my desk in front of me, and they were so quiet I could barely hear any of them. I notice there is no longer the option to adjust the volume on the lock screen which is what I used to do. If I unlock the phone, the ringer is still set to maximum volume. A bug, I guess.
