Hello gorgeous Mac Forum folks,
I'm sure hoping someone here can shed some light and perhaps help me to chill the hell out!
Finally, after eons of thinking about it, I got my new iPhone (3gs 16g) on Dec8. Have it through Fido and had it initially set up with a 'temp' number until I got porting my home land line number sorted out.
(Of note, Fido has a 15 day -and- 30 minute return policy. 15 days is on Dec23 and after having no problems thus far, I've long gone over my 30 minutes)
This past Thursday morning, my home phone land line porting over successfully. Don't know if it's related, but the day my number ported, Fido's 3g network was down.
Here's the issue...the last text I got from my girlfriend, who lives in the UK, was on Wednesday, the day before my number changed. She has tried to send me 6+ messages since then, and not one has gotten through. She has received all of mine and has tried both sending messages through hitting reply as well as sending fresh ones to my ported number. She has also sent a few to my Telus LG cell and those have all come through fine.
After chatting with her today and us testing some more back and forth, I called Fido, and through some pretty persistent explaining, I got them to escalate the issue to their 'tech support' group and have been told they will get back to me in 24-48 hours.
At first they tried to blame it on my honey's UK provider, Orange, but I repeated several times that I got messages from her before they changed my number. I've asked her to text a friend of mine who is also on Fido, but with the time difference, I don't think she had the chance before crashing for the night.
I am able to receive messages from friends locally since my number ported.
Sometimes I can be the most ocd Virgo on the planet and am already slightly freaking out about this not getting fixed and my getting the run around through Fido. Being able to message with my girl is bloody important! It doesn't help that I work for the Cdn telecom regulator and hear all the horror stories.
Does anybody with fabu techie brains have some insight - even if it's to tell me to chill the hell out?
I'm already dreaming of porting my number back to a land line, selling the phone on craigslist and going back to my old lg...oh, and did I mention my girlfriend lovingly calls me a drama queen
