Text message tones

Alright I read up on how to do it and it semmed pretty straightforward, but just for clarification: I just want a custom tone for new text messages, so which would I replace? Also, is there a limit in lenght for the custom to e? Cause I wan to be able to wake up if somene sends me a message while I'm asleep. Thanks you.

alright just one more question, if the custom tone goes off and I open it, will it automatically stop?

Ooooh, good question! Since it is an sms message as opposed to a phone call I do not know the answer really.

I did a little test with my phone using one of the longer stock sounds (Electronic, my phone is not jailbroken right now) where I had my BF send me a text and slid to open right as it came it. Its did not stop early, it continued to play the entire thing. Not sure what it will do with a longer tone, but that may not bode well.
