Text Messages taking forever to send

I’m back to android after a few years on iOS. I’m having issues with text messages. Anytime I send a picture, group message or a link it sometimes takes several minutes (anywhere from 1 min to over 30 min) to send. I’m using a Oneplus 8 and this happens both with android messages and the stock oneplus messages.

Pictures are not text messages ie sms they are mms messages

I would check that you have your correct carrier settings first

I'm having similar issues with SMS on my Galaxy S4. No matter the signal strength, many of my messages are failing to send, or just sit there indefinitely trying to send while draining the phone's battery if I don't cancel. I'm on T-mobile. Is there a possibility that Covid-demand on texting and general bandwidth is a factor here? This started really getting bad the last week. I'm having major issues keeping in contact with my girlfriend who lives 500+ miles away.

I'm also receiving replies literally 5 hours late as well. Sending her a "good morning" text ends up getting the response after 6 PM.
