Is there a way to change the interface of the text messaging? I'm not a big fan of the balloons in iChat and it seems that was the way they went with the texting on the iPhone. Is there a way to change the way it looks?

Currently there are no ways other than Jailbreaking the iPhone to change any settings in the SMS application. Can't change the balloons, color, etc. Sorry.
Edit: You can change the alert tone to any of the 6 that Apple supplies, but that is about it.
