text msg plan help

I'm unlocked my iphone yesterday and using it with my ATT family plan. I decided not to sign up for the data plan, but I want to sign up for a text msg plan because I just found out ATT is raising the per use price. I tried going into my account on ATT.com to add text msg feature, but it gives me a error msg then I switch out my SIM and put it back on my old phone and ATT.com went back to normal.

So I was wondering if I add the text msg feature on my line with the old phone then swap the SIM back into the iphone will the text msg plan still work?

That's pretty strange because AT&T has no way of knowing what phone you're using unless you actually signed up for the iPhone plan, which you didn't. I know that adding features online is disabled until the following billing cycle if you change any of your data features but I don't know if this applies to you.

This being the case, any feature you enable using your other phone will carry onto your iphone.

Actually, I'm pretty sure ATT will know you have an iphone. I don't you can make changes to your account if your using an unlocked iphone with your old sim. I made the changes and added a data plan before I switched my sim into my iphone.

So you add the text and media net before you switch the sim and it works?

cuz ATT charged me $10 for 60 txt send last month so I just thought I should just sign a 200 txt plan. I'm gonna try to add it on my old phone and check if it works.

Yes for sure they do.i did this friday unlocked a brand new iphone. by SAt am on my account my old phone went to the new iphone so they can tell what phone is on what number.
Just set up att online account it will display and say exactly what phones you have
