Text-replace plight

Hey. Hope you're having a great day. This is something I still couldn't figure out since HighSierra and is driving me nuts.

Basically the text-selection & replace behaves differently at various times as you can see in the linked video. I don't recall accidentally changing any text settings. No idea what's causing this. Please help me out.

Try Command+A to select all text. Or Command+Delete to delete all text.

I have the same issue in any app I use.

Three quick clicks should select everything in the entry field. I have "Tap to Click" turned on so it's three quick taps.

I almost think that there may be something wrong with the keyboard. None of the items you are highlighting to be replaced are present once you start typing again. Have you tried resetting the SMC, PRAM and NVRAM?
