Text selection in Safari

I’m running ios12 on an iPhone6S. Text selection in Safari has turned into a nightmare, specifically in an input box such as the one used to compose this post.

It is pretty much impossible to position the selection-carets at the position you want, so it isnt possible to select, cut or copy the exact text you want.

Are any of you experiencing the same?

Must be a problem mostly with this site. I tested it on a few others and had no troubles at all.
