iPhone Text selection is not very good any more on iOS 13

I'm having real problems with text selection on my iPhone Pro Max. It just seems to keep getting worse and worse with each update. Its difficult to move the cursor around and many times I have to tap the screen several times to get the select/select all screen to come up. Then sometimes when it comes up it selects Texta and I can't deselect it. I've been using an iPhone since 2007 and it just seems way worse now.

Am I doing something wrong or is just worse with iOS 13?

SO GLAD someone said this. And yes I read the threads. WTH, can't Apple just make the "old way" better and not flip up the whole stinking UI so we have to change our workflow? Oh wait, duh!?!?
