Lion has some much improved text-to-speech voices available for on-demand install, but no matter what I try the text-to-speech service always uses the Alex voice. The setting 'holds' in the speech preferences dialog, but they seem to be ignored. Anyone else notice this? Whats the point of all the work that went into the new voices when the system can't seem to use them.

I'm successfully using the indian lady (english) voice... it's rather amusing.

Actually I'm finding that when I use the Service menu it's using the old voice but if I use Speech>Start Speaking in Safari it uses the new voice... weird...

Perhaps the old workflow was grandfathered in from SL on my upgraded system which is why it uses the old voice...

p.s. I think the South Africa lady sounds the best
