textPlus question/thoughts?

Hey everyone, I'm getting the new iPhone (first time getting an iPhone)

Instead of paying $20 month for unlimited text, would this app work in the same way?

Whats the benefits/drawbacks, anyone who has text now - could you tell me if you think its worth paying for text?

Also... with the new phone, we have to wait for ATT to support mms to send pics with text??, correct me if I'm wrong on this.

Textplus

I've only had my iphone for a few weeks and started using Textplus right away. It works great to stretch the $5 text plan. All texts sent using Textplus are free and if you have the SMS notifications turned off incoming are also free. Works great to maximize the 200 text plan. I leave the SMS notifications on so I know when a text comes in then turn it off during a text session. Its great.

Unfortunately, my SMS notifications no longer work correctly with the Textplus app. So if i am using the app and have SMS "on" I don't receive an alert that a new message has come in. I must rely on visual and it is extremely annoying. I have restored my iphone and been in touch with Textplus but can't figure out why the app has stopped working correctly. It's really disappointing since I know the capabilityies (my boyfriend's still works correctly). Does anyone have any suggestions???

I love text plus. I see no reason to leave SMS notification on as you can have the program push the msg to you. i get a pop up when ever i get a new msg. this pop up is normally with in 1-5 sec of the msg being send.

i use this to txt my wife mostly. I only have the 5.00 text plan and it helps stretch this plan. i also use it if i need to send the same text msg a lot of people. text plus lets me text reg cell numbers and those people do not need textplus to get my msg.
