I want to publicly thank Apple for giving me multi-speaker audio via Airplay 2.
Trying to get the the same audio to play in multiple rooms simultaneously has been a 20-year struggle for me. I started with US Robotics FM transmitter / receivers distributing audio from my PC's sound card to the receivers throughout the house. Later I engineering a mess of ugly wall-wart Airport Expresses that forward Airplay'd audio to Sonos speakers around the house. With the purchase of Homepods, I tore that mess out ( so many network and audio cables! ) and placed a single Homepods in each room to let me listen to podcasts or music continuously as I move from room to room.
Thank You Apple, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
