I want to send a public thank you to AT&T for the $200 credit they gave me to make up for the iPhone price drop. For all the bad press they get; they really came through on this one when they did not have to and EARNED my business.

Good for AT&T for giving you the difference back.

Good for you for posting positive comments about AT&T.

But seriously, this is getting way out of hand. Suck it up. Early adopters *always* pay a premium. It's the way business is done. To all those that didn't realise they were paying way over the odds to be the first kid on the block with an iPhone, you need to step back and look at digital watches, cars, video game consoles, cell phones (remember the Razor - $600 at launch, now free).

Personally, I don't think AT&T should have given you anything. And I don't think you should have asked them for anything either.

Name us one specific digital watch, car, video game console, or cell phone that dropped it's retail price by 33% after only 68 days from when it was first introduced on the market, and then your point will be well taken...

My point exactly. They didn't HAVE to give me anything. They realized it was a messed up situation, received a lot of complaints, and showed that my business and the money I give them every month is WORTH something to them.

I understand the razr was $600 at launch and is now free. But they didn't get to that point in a 2 month period.

I was shocked to see this type of display from a company like AT&T. Just as shocked as I was by Apple's response to the whole issue.

The RAZR comparison is just stupid. Didn't happen in 60 days. These RAZR comparisons are getting way out of hand. Cars? Give me a break

When did you purchase the phone?

PS3s on eBay before Christmas.

Seriously. If iPhones had been introduced at $399 and in short supply. How many of the early adopters would have jumped at the chance to buy 2 and put one up on eBay for profit? Would these same people (now complaining about a $200 price drop) be sending their profits back to the buyer now that the phone is readily available for $399? Apple simply priced their product well enough to keep it on the shelves had have the profits reaped by the company who made the product rather than individuals on eBay.

How long it's been on the market has nothing to do with anything.

What if the iPhone had been a complete flop. What if it sold well on the first weekend and then nothing else. And after 68 days Apple or AT&T went out of business. What then? Full refund?

What if Apple released a 16Gb iPhone 68 days later for the same price? Full refund? Free upgrade? Maybe free upgrade and full refund?

Prices drop, guaranteed. Yes this was a quick one and I feel the pain of those who feel cheated, I'm in Canada and we seem to be years away from getting them but would I have bought on day one? Yep. And as long as it was working as well as it should, I wouldn't be worried about the price afterwards. If I could afford 600, I would have paid 600.

I think the worst part of all this is that people feel cheated, it's probably not the 200 dollars, if you can afford the monthly service and the 600 that you paid, the honestly the money is probably not your first concern.

Lame. Not all early iPhone purchasers are ebay crooks.

I don't know how you got it from att, but I am having no luck. Their customer service is as poor as ever for me!

Ditto. AT&T also gave me a $200 credit, even though all I asked what that they do "something" to make up for Apple's actions yesterday. AT&T gets a huge kudos from me and I would recommend them to anyone who asks.

I'm seriously happy that Apple are going to grab a really good foothold in the cell phone market in the run up to the holiday season.

iPhones for everyone. The early adopters funded this, I agree and that seems unfair.

The 4Gb model was the cheap alternative and was never going to be around for long anyway. And even at launch everyone said it was seriously overpriced.

If no-one had bought on launch day would the price have come down then or would they have called it a flop?

I'm not saying all are, and in fact, the vast majority aren't. However the vast majority, while probably disappointed that the price dropped so much so soon, aren't crying out that Apple screwed them either.

In the extremely vocal minority I'm sure there are a few who would have jumped at the chance to sell an iPhone for profit in the early days if there had been massive shortages. I don't see why Apple should have sold at a lower price facing potential shortages and allowing unscrupulous individuals to profit when the market was clearly willing and able to pay $200 more for the phone.

when did you buy the phone from AT&T? I imagine you were within the $30 day service cancellation window, hence they gave you a refund........

Really there is no pleasing you kinds of people. If apple released it for a low price and then had a massive backorder, then people would bitch. If apple drops the price after two months then people bitch. The simple answer is SUCK IT UP. If you are stupid enough to run out and pay for every little new thing that comes out the day it comes out then you are bound to pay more then anyone else. Yes the price drop was 68 days after release. No you don't have any right to bitch because of it. It doesn't matter how long its been since its release you agreed to pay the cost at the time and not the price after it drops so you have nobody to blame but yourself.

Ps. Just bought me a new 8gb Iphone. Ahh that $200 price drop is sweet.

How did you get a credit back from AT&T? Did you call their support line? Did you go to your local store? Please give us some additional details. Thanks!

Just got $432 refunded back to me at the apple store. I bought 2 iphones on launch day. If you don't try, you won't get paid.

has anyone had luck getting AT&T to cooperate with crediting AFTER the announced $100 credit?

My strategy for AT&T will be that switched over from verizon to get the service and also had some bumps along the line with their billing department. Basically I'm just gonna be really ticked off. doesnt hurt to try.
