Is there a way to turn it off permanently...you know, the fake shutter sound that makes taking a photo sound like you are using a Nikon F from the early 1960s... I know how to turn down volume, of course, or turn volume off, but I only wnat to turn off the shutter sound and leave it off.

Any way to do this?

Your choices are
  • Flip mute switch
  • Turn volume down
  • Enable live photos
Those are the only choices, unfortunately, and none of them are permanent.

Thanks...I kinda knew that, though I don't use live photos. I was hoping for something more to my liking, but I learned long ago that you have to "do things" Apple's way, and the other choice is to do things Apple's way. :(

One more…
  • Jailbreak and rename the sound file

No, I'm not going to JB this one...but it would be nice if Apple didn't "dictate" simple functions.

And I'm just the opposite, wish there was a way to increase volume, I like to know the picture was taken. Guys at Apple store didn't have a way to do it on my 11.

  1. Go into your Music app.
  2. Go to the "Now Playing" page.
  3. Turn volume all the way up.
  4. Exit music app.
  5. Take photo.
  6. Sound should be louder.

Tried that, and it didn't work.
Also there is no sound while texting or adding text. Went into settings and keyboard clicks is turned on.

Annoys me that the only choices for keyboard clicks is on or off. Wish there was a volume. Like to know I am typing but don't want it full blast.
