I’m primarily an android user but I have owned pretty much every iPhone except a couple, I’ve also owned a lot of the high end android phones (I also currently have a Samsung S25 Ultra). The battery life on the 17 Pro Max is absurd, Its by far the best I’ve ever had. I use the phone habilitation every day, from phone calls to texts, lots of YouTube and some streaming etc…I finish my day with almost 50% battery….WHAT?!!!! That is crazy bro

Whilst it is obviously very good, repeated test have shown that due to iOS 26’s inefficiency, both the 16 Pro Max and the 16 Plus on iOS 18 are better.

Still, as I have mentioned many times before, I think battery life has been enough for iPhones since Plus models (for themselves only), and since the 11 series for the whole lineup.

Just curious, can you share a screenshot of settings-battery?

I will do that tomorrow cause I got home and I put it on the charger cause I'm going out later. I got you tomorrow though

same. it’s actually ridiculous. wife and i visited her grandma and family last night which is about 100 miles each way. we left at 3pm and my phone was fully charged, and i used it very heavily in the car (i’m a passenger princess) both there and back, taking photos/time lapse videos out the window of the crazy sunset, multiple phone calls and facetime, and streamed music over cellular most of the car rides and we got home at 9:30pm and I had 50% battery still. mighty impressive

Thank you for the screenshot! Okay, some clarifying questions:

I see you charged it from around 3 am to 6 am. Did you use it during that timeframe? If you did, you have to subtract that.

If you didn’t, it looks like 4 hours of SOT to 66%, with the majority of the SOT being YouTube (almost half). Speakers or headphones? I’m inclined to think that it was with headphones, as speakers kill battery life. Brightness level? Wi-Fi or all Cellular like on the screenshot?

In any case, I think it looks at least decent, and it would extrapolate to about 10.5-11 hours (the 100 to 99% percentage point lasts 7 to 8 times longer than the rest).

I took it out of the charger around 4am but turned the phone off til I woke up around 6. All usage was on 5g. I also do Uber and the rideshare appa drain the battery faster than other apps. Lots of YouTube, Uber and others with my car's Bluetooth.

Thanks! Yes, it is certainly decent with that usage.

No one would try mobile gaming for hours even on that phone. Sure it can handle a good amount of time but not a whole day.

I wouldn’t argue with that at all. I’m just happy I don’t have to carry around a 4 pound phone to have 80% battery left at the end of the day.

Yes OP, this phones battery is a beast. I usually take my phone off the charger at 5:30am for work and get back in the car at 2:30pm and still sitting at over 70%.

Yesterday was a little abnormal because I had to go pick up some items from another site. Bust still amazing battery.

Yes! I don't even check battery stats any more I just compare my usage from one device to another and my 17 pro Max last much longer than any other device I've ever had

I've used my 17PM for about half a day and still at 87% battery capacity, really excellent. My 15 Pro wasn't anywhere near as good as that.

This is not my experience. Coming from a 16PM which had great battery life, I expected the 17PM to be better but it’s actually slightly worse. Maybe 10%. Still fine for me but based on all the advertising and what others are saying, I was expecting better or at least even. I suspect it’s the OS and all the animations but I’m not sure. My usage habits haven’t changed.

I only ever charged my 16PM to 80% and it was enough to get me through the day with plenty to spare. The 17PM is still good enough so I’m not bothered by it.

I got it on launch day so it’s had enough time to index and settle down. I was hoping 26.0.1 would help but it seems about the same. Maybe 26.1 when it comes will do it. Just another data point for people if they’re interested.

Sim-free version here and yes, the battery life is stellar. I’m coming from the 13 Pro Max, which has been heralded the iPhone battery king for all these years. However, 17PM has easily dethroned it: I remember the 13PM would be around 30-40% after a full heavy day of usage when it was brand-new. The 17PM is around 50% after the same or even heavier scenarios.
