The 1TB 2018 iPad Pro now has increased layer support in Procreate as of 5.2, same as 2020 iPad Pros

Since it's now treated the same as all the other 6GB iPads, the extra RAM in this iPad is now developer accessible.

It’s all coming together nicely. Devs are now starting to take advantage of the additional RAM avalable with iPadOS 15
Yeah big relief for me. I ponied up the extra $ specifically for more ram in apps like Procreate and discovering initially that it wasn't fully available to apps was a very sore letdown as this was the big spec update I had waited on for years.

I'm glad that the RAM limitation has now been removed from the 2018 1TBs with iPadOS 15 as it now allows them to be used to their full potential.

Now that this update is releasing soon, the theories of Apple including the extra RAM solely to help the large storage or the extra RAM being used in multitasking but not apps are now moot since apps can now use it.

I've always wondered why the lower storage 2018 iPad Pros didn't come with 6GB in the first place (not saying that 4GB isn't enough).....

Not sure I'd call 4GB crap, I think the iPhone 6 Plus is a much better example of something that's actually RAM constrained and really needed more RAM.

Even 2GB devices are decent on iOS 14 and 15, it's only the 1GB 64 bit devices that really struggled.

it doesn’t keep safari tabs open, or outlook open in multitasking. A real buzzkill for me. I noticed all these problems went away when i got my iPhone 12Pro compared to 11 Pro. That was also 6GB vs 4GB ram.
