I’ve noticed some renders showing a shrunken Notch in either width or depth. & some with both.

The obvious preference would be both (& no Notch at all....duh) but if you had to choose one, which would it be?

Benefits of width reduction - more status bar icons.
Benefits of depth reduction - bigger screen.

So if you had to choose?...

The notch becomes an issue only when you stare at it. The good thing is that you barely notice it when using an iPhone. 😉

I'm so used to it now that I couldn't care less if the notch was modified. Thus, bacon it is.

I would love for the iPhone 2020 to be notch free.

Me too.

Yeah, it doesn’t bother me either.

I just think it’s time to take the next step toward a notch-free iPhone by reducing its size this year.

So, if you had to choose, which would it be?
(If you chose 🥓, I understand).
😏

I voted width myself, as I think gaining more icons in the status bar would be more useful to me than slightly larger screen real estate. I mean, we’d only be talking 3/4 to 1/2 the depth of the current notch, so you’re not really gaining much more useful screen I reckon. Although, aesthetically, it would look pretty sleek with a shallower notch 🤩

Doesn't bother me, but aesthetically I think a depth/height reduction would be more pleasing, but also acknowledge it would be non-sensical since the current height works with the sidebar icons.

Narrowing the width makes it look weird.

What sidebar icons are you referring to? & how will they be impacted by a vertically shrunk notch?

Just had 🥓 for lunch btw.

Yea I don't even understand this absolute notch hate. I haven't noticed it since the apps I used for XS Max finally got fixed to not be covered by the notch. One was messed up again on Pro Max, but was fixed again within days that time. Now after bacon, I would pick width, especially it that would bring back battery % on status bar again.

Adjust the width so they can fit the battery percentage on the screen again.
Definitely. Width would have been my next vote after bacon for that exact reason.

The notch is a dumb compromise and Apple needs to finally let go, and move forward. Apple will never admit when they make a poor design choice - they’ll ram it down our throats until it’s considered the norm.

I won’t buy a new iPhone unless it’s notchless. Still on iPhone 7. May buy the rumored se2. I just can’t believe that was really their solution, and I still think it looks tacky. As soon as apple removes the notch on a flagship phone I’ll drop a grand on it. And we all know it’s inevitable that it will be removed, and then these notch phones will look even dumber next to them.

A lot of the people that make the most noise haven't had a phone with it. It's just a complete non-issue for me as I really don't notice it all. Face ID is so convenient and fast.

There’s no such thing as a ‘notch adjustment’. I would even wager to ask consumers even know what the notch is in the first place. Most probably couldn’t even define that word or what it means specifically related to the iPhone, except for members that are extremely particular on sites like this. Just sayin.
